The pre-conference workshop is open to faculty and graduate students from universities in Myanmar whose abstracts are submitted for the 3rd International Conference on Burma/Myanmar Studies (ICBMS3) through the general call for papers. The 3-day pre-conference workshop targets early career/junior university faculty, researchers and graduate students who otherwise have limited exposure to international conferences. It aims to engage them in the process of writing quality academic papers.
Approximately 50 – 60 abstracts from the general of call for papers will be selected by the screening committee to present the paper at the pre-conference workshop. Those who present their paper at the pre-conference workshop with a paper meeting the requisite criteria will be encouraged to present the paper at the ICBMS3 in October 2020 in Chiang Mai, Thailand with a limited travel grant provided.
To facilitate this process, we have put in place a separate timeframe for abstract and paper submission for this group of potential contributors. This time frame will enable our team of mentors to hold a preconference workshop and provide ongoing support, prior to the paper presentation at the conference.
